June 2nd was release day for the third book in the Mercy Inc, trilogy, but it didn’t seem right to go all promo over it. So I didn’t say a word.

We are in exceptionally tense historical times and between the COVID-19 pandemic and the current protests both peaceful and not, over the death (murder) of George Floyd, it didn’t seem appropriate to share my book release news.

But the book came out as scheduled and many people have read it, and I’d like to share some of the review comments.

I loved the ending and seeing them both realize that with love, anything is possible. (S. Frank)

Temporary Dad is a heartwarming read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it along with the other books in the series. (Judy)

An extremely heartwarming story, this story with Hunter and Mandy is one that will touch you deeply. (abooknut)

The story of Hunter and Mandy was emotional and enchanting. The lead characters were adorable and relatable. (Wei)

The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot kept things interesting. Add in drama and passion and you have a good read. (SleepReader)

With twenty ratings so far, and a 4.5 star average, I’d say the readers like it!

This was also an oops book. Let me explain. I originally wrote this book in 2008 for Mills & Boon and it was released as Assignment: Baby in June of 2009. In that version the couple had previously been married.  In 2019 I obtained my rights back on the book and decided to have the couple engaged in the past instead of married. This had been on my mind since I wrote the book. Having them end a marriage over their reason seemed extreme whereas ending an engagement more reasonable. So, owning my rights again, I got to change the book. Yay!

Whenever I get rights back on a book, I go cover-to-cover to update and revise the story, often adding story elements or enhancing the scenes, but also making the books closer to PG rating than R. The problem this time around was I used my standing desk to do the revisions. I have developed big issues with my hips and back since writing over thirty books in fifteen years. So I went drastic and bought a stand up desk. I now keep my laptop on that desk and used it.

It was an adjustment writing standing up, but I have come to love it and will continue doing it that way. The bigger problem was not watching my One Drive auto save button. Many days, I came to realize, my revisions had not been saved. Therefore I have been informed by the early readers that I had been inconsistent in the book–had the couple been married or only engaged, they asked? Of course I cringed. Since then I have done several searches through the book and re-uploaded it twice on Amazon. Fingers crossed my couple Hunter and Amanda are only portrayed as having been engaged in the past.

Temporary Dad is at Amazon in digital format

Here’s the blurb:

Hunter Phillips has to look after his baby niece for a month and is completely out of his depth! As if that weren’t enough, he also finds himself working with his ex-fiancée, Amanda – the woman who left him when he told her he never wanted children.

Amanda Dunlap is on a mission to help people stay well. She’s created curriculum for The Mending Hearts Club and is ready to test out her program on the first twenty candidates. When her mentor must back out last minute, she depends on Mercy, Inc. Admin to send a substitute. Only because she is out to prove herself to hospital administration, her parents, and the world, does she accept the man who broke her heart as the replacement.

Hunter is still fiercely attracted to Amanda, and she’s amazing with baby Sophie. As they pretend to play at happy family, Hunter begins to realize that winning Amanda Back and having a family for real is what he wants most of all. All he has to do is convince Amanda.

I hope you’ll check out all three of the Mercy, Inc. books, they’re all at Amazon and are available in the Kindle Unlimited section.

Until next time, make it a great one!

Lynne
